Shipyard
Our vessels are expressly designed for heavy duty work. Sturdy transverse framing is stiffened by the continuation of the inside motor mounts as solid sheets fore and aft. Three crews produce six vessels per year, usually a 1500 h.p., a 1040 h.p., line-haul vessel and four 1000 h.p. workboats. Consistency of design assures a new owner proven performance.
In addition to shipyard activities, Serodino, Inc. operates towboats and barges handling over 2,000,000 tons of bulk tonnage annually. Mid-South Terminals Division, an industrial park development and cargo transfer facility and Southern Electric Fleet Division serve Chattanooga and the surrounding area. Serodino, Inc. works closely with interrelated marine-oriented companies to give customers full service and experience. Southern Marine Construction builds dock facilities, water intakes, outfalls and other marine work in the Southeast and Midwest.

Transverse framing is 5"x 3" x 3/8" on 24" centers. The inside motor mounts are continued fore and aft as solid sheets to divide the hull into three collision compartments, three fuel tanks (9,850 gallons total capacity), engine room, three water tanks, and three stern void compartments. A 110-gallon lube oil tank and a 110 - gallon transmission oil tank are built onto the aft engine room cabin wall.
Power
Power consists of two Mitsubishi S6R, developing a total of 1368 continuous horsepower at 1800 rpm, with Twin-Disc MG-5222 reverse and 4.03 to 1 reduction gears turning 5" sleeved shafts and 52" x 40.5" x 1.15 DAR fourblade propellers. Two 40-k.w John Deere MDDCA light plants furnish auxiliary electric power and are controlled by an automatic switchgear.
Steering
Kobalt full-follow-up lever controls with backup non-follow-up separately activate four flanking and two main rudders. The two hydraulic pumps are driven by electric motors. Auxiliary controls and throttle head located in the engine room for tank barge readiness.
Miscellaneous
Standard equipment includes LED navigation lights, one incandescent and one Xenon searchlight, redundant battery bank, 40 ton Wintech electric winches, Schuyler rubber towknees and full perimeter fenders, shore power plug-in, and Fernstrum zero knot coolers.
Superstructure
The superstructure is constructed of 3/16" plate with 2" x 2-1/2" x 1/4" framing; first deck doors are aluminum watertight hatch style, second deck and pilot house doors are stainless steel and windows are aluminum with safety glass panes. All quarters are insulated, paneled, heated and air conditioned and have poured epoxy floor covering.
The first deck is 17' x 31'-9" long and contains a 17' x 11'-7"' galley, a modest head with shower and a U.S. Coast Guard approved marine sanitation device.
